denver Refugee & Asylee Volunteer Program

Welcome, befriend, and assist refugees who are beginning new lives in Denver.

Since 1975, LFSRM Denver has been welcoming and journeying alongside newly arrived refugees, helping them integrate into their communities and grow in self-sufficiency.

But we cannot resettle refugees here alone. Every day, volunteers and community partners across the metro area contribute their time, energy, and resources to this essential work. Their partnership continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of newcomers here.

Volunteer Opportunities

The refugee who best integrate into life in Colorado/U.S. have formed relationships with people outside their ethnic community. Relational connections are key, and this is the foundation of ourv volunteer program.

Cultural Mentoring: Our Cultural Mentoring and Exchange Program pairs a small team of 3 to 6 volunteers with a newly arrived refugee family. Cultural Mentors provide a friendly and welcoming presence as the family becomes acquainted with their new home and surroundings. Volunteers often help the family learn and practice English, make a budget, navigate public transportation, prepare for employment, and settle into their communities.

English Conversation Circles: English Conversation Circles are gatherings designed for newcomers to practice and improve their English speaking and listening skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. These circles are not formal classes but rather opportunities to meet new people and build confidence in communication.

Donated items can save families money, allowing them to use their limited funds for rent, groceries, or other critical needs. Assembling a Basket or Bin is a meaningful team or group activity! Donations: We always need help with fundraising and other financial assistance. If you cannot donate your time, but still want to participate in assisting refugees in the community, consider the following opportunities ways contribute:
