Hello! Jamno! Salamu alaykum! Bonjor! Muraho!
Tres Hermanas Refugee Farm was started in 2017 from humble beginnings on a bare, one-acre plot at the Rio Grande Community Farm. We have had a steady group of over 75 refugee farmers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Uganda, Central Africa Republic, Iraq, Afghanistan and Iraq participate in our farm incubator program. We are passionate about connecting people to pace through the act of growing roots and cultivating healthy foods; providing an opportunity to heal the body and mind.
Through Tres Hermanas, members of the refugee community are able to increase their self-sufficiency, improve their English, and learn financial skills by growing food and taking it to farmers markets to sell. They are also able to gain the agricultural resources and technical assistance, as well as the work experience necessary to help them pursue entrepreneurial endeavors in farming.
Tres Hermanas Farm is currently managed by one full-time program coordinator, one part-time seasonal farm manager, and a crew of wonderful volunteers. In order to increase program capacity and provide more individual assistance, we are need of hiring a full-time farm manager who can take on the year-long responsibilities of keeping the farm in full production.
Please join us for an evening of live music, great food, and fun!
